Random Acts of Kindness Campaign takes hold in Park City

By February 21, 2024No Comments

In celebration of the internationally recognized Random Acts of Kindness Week, Kept Current has launched “Keep It Kind,” a campaign aiming to bring together local businesses, nonprofits and residents of Park City.

Set to take place from Wednesday to Feb. 20, “Keep It Kind” aims to spread goodwill and kindness across the community, organizer Caren Bell said, adding that the part of a global movement and tailored to transform everyday gestures into a fun, engaging and community-wide event in Park City.

“Kindness is a powerful tool that brings people together,” said Bell, the founder of Kept Current. “We’re encouraging everyone in Park City — businesses, nonprofits, individuals, families — to get involved and have fun by doing good. Honestly, I love this town, and it is just an excuse to bring some more good vibes to our community. If other cities are doing this around the world, why not us? I’m sure we can do it better!”

The campaign encourages residents to actively participate in spreading kindness. Whether it’s through volunteering, assisting neighbors, or small acts like buying coffee for someone, these gestures are instrumental in fostering a sense of unity and support within the community, she said.

“These small acts not only enrich the lives of others but also enhance the overall fabric of our community,” she said.

Campaign highlights:

  • Engagement Through Education: “Keep It Kind” focuses on raising awareness about the power of kindness and motivating the community to engage in acts of kindness with friends, family, and colleagues making it fun and playful.
  • Community Giveaway: In a grand gesture of community spirit, local businesses and nonprofits have pooled together to create giveaway packages showcasing their dedication to giving back to the community they serve.
  • Social Media Participation: Residents and visitors can participate in the campaign by following participating businesses and Kept Current on Instagram (@Kept_Current_ParkCity), tagging friends, and using the hashtags #KeepItKind and #KeptCurrent. People are encouraged to share their stories.

The significance of these acts of kindness extends beyond the immediate moment, Bell said.

“Engaging in kindness has a domino effect, creating a more supportive and trusting environment. Research indicates that communities steeped in kindness experience improved mental health and stronger societal bonds, underscoring the far-reaching benefits of these actions,” she said.

Local businesses play a pivotal role in the success of the “Keep It Kind” campaign, Bell said, saying their involvement goes beyond business promotion and is a demonstration of their commitment to enriching the community.

“Businesses have a unique opportunity to lead and inspire the community,” Bell said.
