An Orchestral Rendition of Dr. Dre: 2001
The Depot - Salt Lake City
This body of work features so many intricate musical layers, we have brought in one of Europe’s leading Orchestras to perform a complete rendition of the album and some of Dre’s west coast classics from start to finish. Accompanied by DJ's, singers, and lyricists - this is not your average Orchestral event. This is no ordinary Orchestral event. Expect a full standing crowd, with performances from various DJ’s, lyricists and singers as well as a full Orchestral Rendition of Dr. Dre’s: 2001 album, followed by other of Dre’s west coast classics. This is the combination of a traditional Orchestra merging with a modern live hip-hop music event. We’re extremely excited to bring this production to yourselves. Note: Dr Dre will not be attending this event. This is an orchestral rendition event performing covers and renditions. This is a standing event.

Gwyneth Goes Skiing
Egyptian Theatre - Park City
This brand new show is a very silly story of justice, betrayal and optometry that makes the audience the jury, asking them to decide who's guilty and who's gooped. A fundraising event to the support the Egyptian Theatre's Tuition-Free YouTheatre Program This play with music recounts the now-infamous collision in 2016 on the slopes of Deer Valley and the court case seven years later that enthralled the world. Gwyneth Goes Skiing lampoons the story and weaves a very silly story of justice, betrayal and optometry that makes the audience the jury. Gwyneth Goes Skiing stars Linus Karp as the Goop-founding, Door-Sliding, Shakespeare-Loving, Hollywood superstar Gwyneth Paltrow, and Joseph Martin as her nemesis, Terry Sanderson, a retired Optometrist from Utah. The performance features a whole lot of fiction and a sprinkling of verbatim lines from court transcripts. Original music by Leland (RuPaul’s Drag Race; Cher’s Christmas). RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 3 winner Trixie Mattel featured in a special video cameo. Two extra special guest vocalists also perform in the production. Darren Criss (Glee, also Golden Globe and Emmy Award Winner), and Cat Cohen (NYC cabaret darling and Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Award Winner) are featured as the singing voices of Terry and Gwyneth respectively. All proceeds generated from this production will support our Tuition-Free YouTheatre program.

Richie Furay Trio
Egyptian Theatre - Park City
After an astonishing 60-year career in music that included pivotal positions in Buffalo Springfield, Poco, the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band, as well as several solo albums, Richie Furay’s signature vocals still capture his voice with such incredible depth and beauty that even those who have been long-time fans and followers will be caught with wonder when seeing him perform as he approaches 80 years old. It is truly an artistic moment of reckoning when watching his dynamic stage presence and his connection with the audience. Richie Furay was born in Yellow Springs, Ohio and loved music from the start. His father listened to country music on the radio, and it caught Furay’s ear immediately. There was something about the openness of the songs, and the emotional power of those that delivered them, both the singers and players. It wasn’t long until rock & roll sprang out of country and blues in the early 1950s, and once the young Ohioan found that sound he knew he was home. Early doowop records rose to the front for a while, and when Richie Furay began guitar lessons and got his first guitar when he was eight years old, he knew that’s what he wanted to do. By the time the young man was attending college in 1963, he was a drama major and had won the freshman talent show. After a trip to New York with his college acapella choir, Richie returned the following summer to sing in folk clubs where he met Stephen Stills. Eddie Miller then formed the AuGoGo Singers with Richie and Stephen and his future was set. He describes it as an “inner optimism” that really took him into the heart of becoming a professional musician. It has been a career of constant progression and unending achievements. Once Stills and Furay joined with Neil Young, Bruce Palmer, and Dewey Martin, Buffalo Springfield instantly became one of America’s great bands. As they toured and recorded for the next three years, the group solidified their place in the history books. And when Furay left to form Poco with Jim Messina, Rusty Young, Randy Meisner, and George Grantham in 1968, his permanent influence in Country Rock became assured. “Rock & roll and country, that’s really what I’m all about,” Furay explains. “It’s the sound that first really touched me as a child, and it’s stayed a constant in my life all these years, both personally and professionally. Even at the start of my career. I may have felt somewhat insecure, but I always believed in myself. And I knew enough to know to do what I wanted to do, because if I didn’t I wouldn’t be enjoying what I was doing. That was always a basic operating procedure for me. No matter what group I was in, I needed to really like what we were trying to play. And that’s what is at the heart of my recording catalog and live concerts. I have always loved country music, and the idea of putting it together with rock & roll with a steel guitar seemed like a natural back at my start right up to now.” From the earliest days of his onstage life, at this time there is an eternal feel to his vocals, like the man has tapped into the deepest aspect of life and conveyed all he has sung and learned into a crowning achievement of where he’s been and where he’s still going. When the electric and acoustic guitars team up, and the bass and drums of the rhythm section kick in and are joined by keyboards and the ever important steel guitar, there is such an undeniable celebration of music that comes across it feels like Richie Furay has unlocked the most immortal secret of who he has been all these years. He is joined by a spirit of life and love that only the very finest music can deliver. “This is what I am about: rock & roll and country,” he states, and truer words were never spoken. By the end of his concert performance when the signature song from Poco, “A Good Feelin’ To Know”, is heard, it feels like a special gift being handed out at an illustrious event. A gift from one of rock & roll’s true pioneers.

From their beginnings in mid-60’s Southern Ohio as a group of friends playing cover tunes to the present-day unit featuring founding member/innovative pedal steel guitarist John David Call, propulsive drummer/vocalist Scott Thompson, keyboard master/vocalist Randy Harper and featuring new members Jared Camic on bass and vocals, plus ace guitarist/vocalist Jeff Zona, Pure Prairie League continues to embellish the rich history of one of Country-Rock’s pioneering forces for over 50 years. As one reviewer recently wrote: “PPL’s trademark sound combines sweet memories with edgy contemporary muscle. Their vocals are as strong as Kentucky moonshine and the musicianship and performance skills are as sharp as a straight-razor.”

Schubert's Symphony No. 6
St. Mary's Catholic Church - Park City
Delve into the music of four prolific composers, beginning with Haydn’s Symphony No. 61. Known as the “Father of the Symphony,” Haydn fills this exquisite composition with tender reflection. Then, Associate Concertmaster Kathryn Eberle takes the spotlight as soloist in an intimate performance of Beethoven’s rule-breaking Romance in G Major, aptly titled for its lovely, swelling theme and variations. Eberle’s musicality continues to glow in Saint-Saëns’ Havanaise, which was composed with “a crackling hotel room fire” in mind—this piece is as warm and lively as its inspiration. The evening concludes with Schubert’s Symphony No. 6, fondly dubbed the “Little C Major,” written when Schubert was just 21 years old.

In 1979, Mickey joined Jefferson Starship as the lead vocalist, after the departure of Grace Slick and Marty Balin, and recorded a string of hits including “Jane”, “No Way Out”, “Find Your Way Back”, “Stranger”, and “Layin It On The Line”. Expect to hear hits from Starship and Jefferson Starship at Starship’s live performances, as well as a few selections from Jefferson Airplane as a nod to both bands’ beginnings. Taylor Dayne is an American pop icon. With a career spanning three decades, Taylor’s groundbreaking debut single “Tell It To My Heart” turned her into an overnight international star in 1987. She followed the smash hit with seventeen Top 20 singles over the course of her three-decade career, including Number Ones “Love Will Lead You Back” “Prove Your Love” and “I’ll always Love You.” Taylor has sold over 75 million albums and singles worldwide, earned three GRAMMY nominations, an American Music Award, multiple New York Music Awards, received New York Music Hall of Fame honors and ranked as the Number 18 Female Dance artist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit
Deer Valley Snow Park - Park City
A Jason Isbell record always lands like a decoder ring in the ears and hearts of his audience, a soundtrack to his world and magically to theirs, too. Weathervanes carries the same revelatory power. This is a storyteller at the peak of his craft, observing his fellow wanderers, looking inside and trying to understand, reducing a universe to four minutes. He shrinks life small enough to name the fear and then strip it away, helping his listeners make sense of how two plus two stops equaling four once you reach a certain age -- and carry a certain amount of scars. “There is something about boundaries on this record,” Isbell says. “As you mature, you still attempt to keep the ability to love somebody fully and completely while you’re growing into an adult and learning how to love yourself.”

Mendelssohn's "Scottish" Symphony
St. Mary's Catholic Church - Park City
Grammy-nominated composer Anna Clyne takes traditional folk themes to a new level in PIVOT—a piece that embodies its name as the orchestra constantly “pivots” through the twists and turns of the music. Then, hear the bass in a new light as Principal Bass David Yavornitzky brings Koussevitzky’s Concerto for Double Bass to life, highlighting the rich notes of Russian romanticism. Finally, be swept away by Mendelssohn’s “Scottish” Symphony, a composition inspired by his visit to the rolling green highlands of Caledonia.

The Miracles
Egyptian Theatre - Park City
Armed with some of the greatest songs ever written, The Miracles are still after 40 years, attracting enthusiastic audiences around the world. Featuring Sydney Justin this group is filled with classic hits and exhilarating performances.. The Miracles are still after 40 years, attracting enthusiastic audiences around the world. Motown’s first of many famous groups such as The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Supremes, The Commodores, and The Jackson Five, Martha Reeves and The Vandella’s and of course The Miracles, who were the very first group to sign to Motown records, continue to keep the Motown sound alive by performing songs, such as: “Shop Around”, “I Second That Emotion”, “Tears Of A Clown”, “Love Machine”, “You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me”, “The Tracks Of My Tears” , “Ooh Baby Baby” and many more. Their performances at the Nassau Coliseum, the Inaugural Gala in Washington, D.C. and the 4th of July celebration at Duke University with over 60,000 fans in attendance, was simply unbelievable. In 1956, Bobby Rogers, Smokey Robinson, Claudette Robinson, Ronnie White and Pete Moore, childhood friends became The Miracles, and embarked on a career that would surpass their wildest dreams. Berry Gordy Motown’s founder recorded and released “Shop Around” a number one smash on all the charts, establishing The Miracles and giving Motown their first gold seller, this was the beginning of the record company and the group success for many years to come. The Miracles and Motown Records became known throughout the entire world. Over the course of the years, The Miracles continued to record chart-topping hits, including “Ooo Baby Baby”, “Going To A Go-Go”, “More Love”, “Mickey’s Monkey” and “Tears Of A Clown”. The Miracles established themselves as one of the best groups of all times. In 1971, Smokey Robinson announced his retirement to spend time with his growing family. Billy Griffin replaced him and The Miracles continued to be successful recording hit records, with such renowned producers as Marvin Gaye, Willie Hutch and Freddie Perren. In the fall of 1976 their hits consisted of “Do It Baby” and “Love Machine”, The Miracles were now on top of the POP, R&B and DISCO charts. The Miracles timeless music gained in popularity through movie soundtracks such as “The Big Chill”, “Platoon” and “Donnie Brasco”. (In 1993, Motown honored the group with a 35th anniversary retrospective greatest hits CD box set). In 1978 upon the departure of Billy Griffin, the group, consisting of Pete Moore, Bobby Rogers and Ronnie White auditioned a young man right out of college (Long Beach State University), by the name of Sydney Justin. He was chosen as The Miracles lead vocalist, but had a prior commitment to play in the N.F.L. with the Los Angeles Rams. Sydney had a rewarding but short lived professional football career (Five Years), due to an injury, but not before he had a chance to earn a Super Bowl ring in Super Bowl XIV. 1985 After his retirement from Pro Football, Sydney signed a recording contract with the vocal pop group “Shalamar”. He recorded, wrote and produced songs on their last two CD’s and performed concerts around the globe. During this time Sydney also sang, produced and wrote songs for movie sound tracks such as “Wild Cats” Starring Goldie Hawn and also the movie “Lambada” In 1994, as faith would have it, Bobby Rogers and Claudette Robinson again would locate Sydney Justin on a quest to reunite The Miracles. Now with Sydney, whose style is reminiscent of a cross between Smokey Robinson & Marvin Gaye, along with Bobby Rogers, Ronnie White and Claudette Robinson, The Miracles embarked on a second wave of success. Unfortunately, in 1995 Ronnie White one of the original members lost a fourteen-month battle with leukemia and was unable to see the groups continued success and legendary performances with new lead singer Sydney Justin. Sydney Justin and The Miracles have made many television appearances such as: The Today Show, Good Morning America, George & Alana, Donnie and Marie Osmond, the Pat Bullard show, and the Home & Family show, just to name a few. They also have two nationwide television commercials running to date (Denny’s & Oil Dispatch). They have performed in Las Vegas casino’s, (The Rio, Star Dust, Green Valley Ranch Casino, and also the Freemont Street Experience) Washington D.C.’s Constitution Hall and in The Library of Congress, (where they were the first R&B group to be inducted). They have also toured throughout Europe with the United States Air Force Orchestra and many, concerts in Casino’s, and Private Corporate functions throughout the United States and abroad. In February 1997, they received the “Pioneer Award” from The Rhythm & Blues Foundation and a star was placed on the Hollywood Boulevard “Walk of Fame”. Recently they were voted Detroit’s first Motown group to be commemorated on it’s “Walk of Fame”, Sydney Justin and The Miracles recently recorded a new Greatest hits CD, a Live CD performance, and a Christmas Holiday CD with songs that include: “Silent Night, White Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Frosty The Snow Man, We Wish You A Merry Christmas, The Christmas Song” and many others including two new original songs “My Favorite Time Of Year” and “Finally Christmas” written by Sydney Justin. It’s not surprising that The Miracles featuring Sydney Justin are loved throughout the world for the extraordinary music and electrifying stage performances. Even Berry Gordy has giving Sydney Justin the endorsement as one of Motown’s brightest stars. The Miracles line up today include: Sydney Justin, Kerry Justin,(Sydney’s brother and former Seattle Seahawks defensive back) Cordell Conway, and Eric Swindell are the best ever. With great harmonies and stunning choreography, this act is beyond Fantastic. They are Extraordinary. The Miracles featuring Sydney Justin has been seen and admired by millions on the PBS television specials and in concerts worldwide as they continue to share The Miracles of their Almighty God given talents.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Park City Institute - Park City
Many veteran bands trade on nostalgia, on replication of past glories, and on recycled emotions from younger, more carefree days. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band trades on a mix of reimagined classics and compelling newer works. The group formed in 1966 as a Long Beach, California jug band, scored its first charting single in 1967, and embarked on a self-propelled ride through folk, country, rock ‘n’ roll, pop, bluegrass, and the amalgam now known as “Americana.” The first major hit came in 1971 with the epic “Mr. Bojangles,” which, along with insistent support from banjo master Earl Scruggs, opened doors in Nashville. Behind those doors were Earl Scruggs, Roy Acuff, Doc Watson, Mother Maybelle Carter, Jimmy Martin, and others who would collaborate on a multi-artist, multi-generational, three-disc 1972 masterpiece: Will the Circle Be Unbroken went triple Platinum, spawned two later volumes, and wound up in the Grammy Hall of Fame. Was this a cutting-edge combo or a group of revivalists? Was the goal rebellion or musical piety? Yes, to all these things. In the 1980s, the Dirt Band reeled off 15 straight Top 10 country hits, including chart-toppers “Long Hard Road (The Sharecropper’s Dream),” “Modern Day Romance,” and “Fishin’ in the Dark (co-written by Jim Photoglo, who would join the band in the second decade of the new century). 1989 brought a second Circle album, this one featuring singer-songwriter talents including John Prine, Rosanne Cash, and John Hiatt and garnering two Grammy awards for the band (it later won another, for a collaboration with Earl Scruggs and other fine folks). Circle II also won the Country Music Association’s Album of the Year prize. Circle III was released in 2003, featuring collaborations with Johnny Cash, Dwight Yoakam, Emmylou Harris, Taj Mahal, and more.

The Dead South
Deer Valley Snow Park - Park City
Saturday, August 10, 2024 True blue right through, The Dead South don’t shy away from ruffling traditionalists’ feathers from time to time, as they flawlessly execute banjo rolls and lightning-fast mandolin tremolos, 3-part harmonies and songs of classic themes -murder ballads, disloyalty, ghosts and the like, all with a wink and a smile. As they continue their climb to the top, The Dead South have learned an important lesson: If you’re going to be outsiders, you’d better be great.

Aly & AJ
Park City Institute - Park City
When the California sister duo of Aly & AJ released their dream-rock return in 2021—the epically titled a touch of the beat gets you up on your feet gets you out and then into the sun—it marked a new beginning. A decade and a half into their careers, the album was their most realized yet, the work of a band reclaiming itself. In the wake of the runaway TikTok revival of their 2007 hit, “Potential Breakup Song,” Aly & AJ transformed their foundation of Disney pop and TV sitcoms into a new vision of sparkling guitars, close harmonies, and highway sprawl, growing on their own terms. They bottled that energy and ran. Mere months after the release of a touch of the beat, Aly & AJ headed back to the legendary Sunset Sound to begin work on its followup, With Love From. Tracking the album in one week in December 2021, Aly & AJ reconvened with many of the same collaborators (Jorge Elbrecht, Yves Rothman, Ryan Spraker, James McAlister) that helped make their previous record such a breakthrough. If a touch of the beat conjured the relief of catching a wind on the highway, With Love From breathes it in deeply. If a touch of the beat was about searching for yourself, then With Love From is about being. “Once we felt like we were on a roll…” AJ says, as Aly finishes her thought: “There’s been no stopping us.”

For two decades, Turner’s deep, velvet voice has been the most recognizable on country radio. His second album, Your Man accounted for his first two No. 1 hits, "Your Man" and "Would You Go with Me", while Everything Is Fine included a No. 2 hit, "Firecracker". Haywire, released in, produced his biggest hit, the four-week No. 1 hit "Why Don't We Just Dance" and another No. 1 song, "All Over Me". New Album "Naked Truth" Tour! According to Billboard "nobody has released more consistently excellent blues albums than Tinsley Ellis. He sings like a man possessed and wields a mean lead guitar! ALLIGATOR RECORDS ANNOUNCES TINSLEY'S DEBUT SOLO ACOUSTIC ALBUM On Friday, February 9, 2024, Alligator Records will release Naked Truth, the first-ever solo acoustic album from world-renowned Atlanta-based guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Tinsley Ellis. The new album is steeped in the folk blues traditions of Muddy Waters, Skip James, Son House, Robert Johnson and even Leo Kottke. To the casual fan, this might seem to be a new direction, but for Ellis, it’s an extension of his music, as he taps into the raw essence of the blues. “This is a record I’ve always wanted to make, and one that my longtime fans have been asking for,” he says, noting he’s included an acoustic mini-set in his concert performances for years. In the last 12 months, Ellis has already performed over 100 solo shows, many as co-bills with his Alligator label-mate Marcia Ball. “I’m having so much fun playing these shows,” he says. On Naked Truth (his 21st album), Ellis swaps his blistering, guitar-fueled full band workouts for equally passionate, soul-searching acoustic folk blues. His famed guitar chops and musical creativity are on full display throughout the album’s 12 songs, including nine newly written originals. Naked Truth was produced by Ellis, with the foot-stomping cover of Son House’s Death Letter Blues produced by Atlanta roots musician Eddie 9V. The album was recorded live in the studio using Ellis’ beloved 1969 Martin D-35 (a gift from his father) and his 1937 National Steel O Series guitars. Whether intricately fingerpicking the Martin or playing hair-raising slide on the National Steel, Ellis delivers each song with unvarnished intimacy.
